Nightborn Description
Nightborn are tall, slender, and unnervingly graceful. Their movements are silent and deliberate, giving them an air of mystery and unease. Their skin is unnaturally pale, ranging from ashen gray to moonlit white, often appearing almost translucent in certain lighting. Some Nightborn have faint, swirling patterns across their skin, remnants of old magic that seem to shimmer subtly in darkness.
Their eyes are their most striking feature—silver, violet, or deep black, often with no visible pupils, giving them an unsettling, otherworldly stare. In low light, their eyes seem to glow faintly, though they can dim or suppress this glow when necessary.
Their hair is long and dark, ranging from inky black to deep blue or violet, and has a wispy, weightless quality, as if always caught in an unseen breeze. Some Nightborn, especially those of old bloodlines, have hair that glimmers faintly in the dark, like distant starlight.
Their ears are elongated and slightly pointed, but they are more delicate and swept-back than traditional elven features. Their faces are sharp and angular, with high cheekbones, thin lips, and sunken eyes, giving them an eerie, ghostlike beauty.
Nightborn cast strange shadows, often seeming slightly detached from their physical bodies, moving unnaturally or stretching in ways that don’t match the available light source. Some Nightborns can blend into dimly lit areas almost instinctively, their presence fading into the background unless they choose to be noticed.
Despite their delicate appearance, Nightborn is incredibly resilient. They have an uncanny ability to slip through small spaces or move without making a sound. Their bones are lighter and more flexible than those of other Fae, allowing them to twist and contort in ways that make them exceptional infiltrators and spies.
Their fingers are long and claw-like, and their nails grow dark or glassy. They can cut through fabric or etch runes into surfaces. While not true weapons, their nails and sharp fingers make them dangerous in close-quarters combat.
Some Nightborns have subtle bioluminescence, with veins or markings along their forearms, neck, or face faintly glowing in the dark when they channel magic or experience heightened emotions.
